More Education

Since 2005 I have been lecturing at the Netherlands Film & Television Academy, at the faculty Interactive Multimedia & Visual Effects. The classes I teach are all about interaction. We’ve seen projects like Music Visualisation, where one student had the conductor use a wiimote instead of a baton, painting an abstract landscape with sound-reactive particles while conducting the orchestra.

In other projects students are asked to convert the essence of a painting into an interactive experience using a 3D game engine.

This year we had students explore new techniques in cinematography, using a Kinect for motion capture or controlling a virtual camera with eye movement.

On this page I will try and document some of the projects we did at NFTA.
NFTA is a partner in Cinegrid and I’m currently researching an ambitious project, involving a virtual camera, real actors and virtual sets in a game engine, to be combined (keyed) in real time at 4K resolution.
